Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-06

This Service is currently in beta. Access is available either through self-service signup (POST /signup, scoped to public-domain SEC/FRED data) or through API keys issued manually at our discretion, which may include broader access for evaluation purposes. No paid tiers exist at this time.

1. Description of Service

Ordinexdata (the Financial Intelligence API, "the Service") provides SEC EDGAR filing data, structured financial fundamentals, insider transaction and institutional holdings data, computed factor scores, market data, and macroeconomic indicators, accessed over a REST API.

2. Not Investment Advice

The Service is not investment advice. Data, factor scores, screens, rankings, and any other output are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. You are solely responsible for any investment or trading decisions made using the Service. Past performance (including backtested results from the /backtest endpoint) is not indicative of future results.

3. Beta Service

The Service is currently offered as a beta, and by using it you acknowledge and accept that, during this beta period:

Nothing in this section limits any other section of these Terms, including No Warranty and Limitation of Liability below, both of which apply in full during and after the beta period.

4. Data Sources and Licensing

Filing and fundamentals data is sourced from SEC EDGAR and macro indicators from FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis) - both U.S. government works in the public domain. Market price data (and factors derived from it) is sourced from an unofficial, third-party endpoint provided for evaluation purposes only - it is not licensed for commercial use or redistribution. Every API response includes an X-Data-License header:

Self-service API keys (POST /signup) are issued scoped to the public-domain endpoints only. Keys with access to beta-yahoo-sourced endpoints are issued manually, for evaluation purposes, at our discretion.

The availability, accuracy, and licensing terms of third-party data sources are outside of our control and may change without notice. You are responsible for independently verifying that your use of any data obtained through the Service - particularly data marked beta-yahoo-sourced - complies with any restrictions imposed by the underlying source, in addition to these Terms.

5. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

6. API Keys and Acceptable Use

API keys are issued at our discretion and may be revoked at any time, for any reason, without notice - including for suspected abuse, excessive load, or violation of these Terms. You agree not to:

7. No Warranty

The Service and all data are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that data is accurate, complete, or up to date. Data is sourced from third parties and may contain errors, gaps, or delays outside our control.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages or liability; in those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of a third party.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Placeholder[governing jurisdiction - to be determined], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. This section is a placeholder - a specific governing jurisdiction has not yet been designated and will be added once determined.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Relationship to Our Privacy Policy

Our collection and use of personal information in connection with the Service is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
